A Mica Lava Cup is very similar to our Dual Lava Cups, but with one beautiful addition—mica powder.
Mica powder gives the lava a gorgeous shimmer and sparkle effect that catches the light and adds extra dimension to the lava movement.
How is a Mica Lava different from a Dual Lava?
The activation process, maintenance, and flow options are the same as our Dual Lava Cups.
The main difference is that Mica Lava Cups contain mica powder mixed into the lava, creating a shimmering, pearlescent effect that makes the lava even more eye-catching.
Is a Mica Lava Cup high maintenance?
Yes. Just like Dual Lava Cups, Mica Lava Cups are one of our more high-maintenance styles.
To reactivate the lava after it has been sitting, the cup must be completely flipped several times until the lava begins moving again.
The longer the cup sits without movement, the longer it may take to activate.
Does the mica powder settle?
Yes, this is completely normal.
Over time, the mica powder will naturally settle toward the bottom of the cup when left sitting. The paint used in the lava can also settle, but the mica powder typically settles more quickly.
Once the cup is flipped and activated, most of the mica powder will mix back into the lava and restore its beautiful shimmer.
Some minor residue may remain behind, which is expected and does not affect the functionality or appearance of the cup.
Does the settling damage the cup?
Not at all!
Settling is a normal characteristic of mica powder and paint-based lava solutions.
It does not harm the cup, affect the flow, or impact the overall beauty of the design.
How should I store my Mica Lava Cup?
For best results, always store your cup standing upright when not in use.
We do not recommend leaving the cup upside down for extended periods of time, as this can cause the mica powder and pigments to settle in ways that may require additional activation.

Why do you only offer Mica Lava or Reverse Lava in 16oz and 20oz cups?
For our 16oz and 20oz cup sizes, we only offer Mica Lava or Reverse Lava styles.
These smaller cups require us to use a very small amount of paint in the lava solution. Using too much paint in these sizes can increase the risk of staining the cup over time.
By adding mica powder, we can create a richer, more solid-looking lava appearance without needing to add excess paint.
This helps maintain the beauty of the cup while reducing the risk of staining.
Why are 16oz and 20oz Mica Lava Cups only available in Slow Flow?
Our 16oz and 20oz cups are only offered in Slow Flow for both Mica Lava and Reverse Lava styles.
This is because the walls of these cup sizes are significantly wider than our other sizes. To achieve the beautiful lava effect, we must use a thicker oil that helps slow down the movement of the lava and create the signature flowing effect customers love.
Will my Mica Lava Cup stay beautiful over time?
Yes! With proper care and realistic expectations, your Mica Lava Cup can remain beautiful for a long time.
Because lava cups are made with paint-based solutions and mica powder, some settling, separation, and changes over time are completely normal and expected.
