Reverse Lava

✨ Reverse Lava Cup FAQ ✨

What is a Reverse Lava Cup?

A Reverse Lava Cup is one of our most unique lava styles. It creates a beautiful "backwards" lava effect that is both mesmerizing and eye-catching.

Unlike a traditional Dual Lava Cup, the colors are reversed to create a completely different look and movement.

What does "Reverse Lava" mean?

In a Reverse Lava Cup, the oil is colored while the lava is kept clear.

This creates a unique reverse effect where the clear lava moves through the colored oil, producing a beautiful and unusual lava movement that many customers love.

How is a Reverse Lava different from a Dual Lava?

A Dual Lava Cup has colored oil and colored lava.

A Reverse Lava Cup has colored oil and clear lava.

Because the lava remains clear, the movement appears reversed, creating a cool visual effect that stands out from traditional lava cups.

Are Reverse Lava Cups easier to maintain?

Yes!

Reverse Lava Cups are generally the easiest lava style to maintain because there is no paint added to the lava.

Since there is no paint in the lava:

  • There is no paint settling inside the lava.

  • The lava typically activates more quickly.

  • Less maintenance is required compared to traditional Dual Lava and Mica Lava styles.

Do Reverse Lava Cups still need to be activated?

Yes.

Like all lava cups, Reverse Lava Cups must be activated after they have been sitting.

To activate the lava, simply flip the cup completely upside down several times until the lava begins moving again.

The longer the cup sits without movement, the more flips may be required.

Can I choose how fast the lava moves?

Yes! Most Reverse Lava Cups can be customized with:

Fast Flow

  • Quick movement

  • Easiest to activate

  • Typically requires about 3–5 flips

💫 Medium Flow

  • Balanced movement

  • Typically requires about 5–10 flips

🌋 Slow Flow

  • Beautiful, dramatic lava movement

  • Typically requires about 10–15 flips

  • Most maintenance but creates the most mesmerizing effect

Please remember that these activation times are averages and may vary depending on how long the cup has been sitting.

Why are 16oz and 20oz Reverse Lava Cups only available in Slow Flow?

Our 16oz and 20oz Reverse Lava Cups are available in Slow Flow only.

These cup sizes have significantly wider walls than our other sizes. To achieve the beautiful lava effect, we must use a thicker oil that slows the movement and allows the lava to flow properly.

The thicker oil creates:

  • A more defined lava effect

  • A smoother movement

  • A more visually appealing result

Without the thicker oil, the lava would move too quickly and would not produce the signature lava effect we strive for.

Does glitter affect the lava movement?

Yes.

While we can add glitter to your Reverse Lava Cup, we generally recommend using a smaller amount of glitter.

Too much glitter can interfere with the lava movement and affect the overall flow.

However, every cup is customized to your liking, and we are happy to add more glitter if desired.

What is the biggest advantage of a Reverse Lava Cup?

Many customers love Reverse Lava Cups because they combine:

✨ Beautiful reverse lava movement

✨ Faster and easier activation

✨ Less maintenance

✨ No paint settling inside the lava

✨ A unique look that is different from traditional lava cups

For customers who love the lava effect but want something easier to maintain, Reverse Lava is often the perfect choice.
